Laser Tattoo Removal treatments

  • The most recognized laser
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Removes all colour tattoos

Using the AW3® Nd Yag laser can safely and effectively remove tattoos, permanent make up, and skin pigmentation such as age spots, sunspots and birthmarks. Tattoo ink particles are too large for the body’s immune system to remove naturally because when tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin (dermis) it becomes locked away by a wall of collagen fibres. Q-switched lasers produce very short bursts of high energy laser light. The light is absorbed by the large ink particles, generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into minute particles which the body is able to remove through the lymphatic system via the kidneys in the urine; therefore the client will need to drink plenty of water after treatment to flush the kidneys.   Because the tattoo ink selectively just absorbs the laser energy, the surrounding skin doesn’t overheat and there is no lasting damage.

What types of tattoo I can  treat

Professional tattoos – usually placed 2-3 mm in the dermis.

Amateur tattoos – usually black and blue inks that are not as deep the ink may not be as dense therefore these are easier to remove

Semi-permanent makeup – the depth is not as deep as the above but the pigment can contain Iron pigments that may not respond well to the laser treatment.

What to expect during treatment Immediate/ normal side effects:-

As the ND YAG Q switched hits the tattoo it will make a loud cracking noise which is normal this is where the ink absorbs the photo shock wave.  This cracking will lessen over time the more the tattoo fades.

White gas bubbles may rise on the skin immediately. This is a good sign showing that the heat has been released from the shattered ink particles.  This should disappear around 20 minutes after treatment.

Pinpoint bleeding may occur due to the tiny blood vessels erupting again this should disappear 20 mins following treatment

Skin redness may be present and temporary swelling this is due to the heat and the intensity of the treatment.

How many sessions are needed and at what intervals:-

Clients will see a reduction after the first treatment however to completely remove a tattoo will depend on the colour and how deep, it could be 3 to 5 treatments with intervals of 6 weeks between, in some cases this could be more.

FAQ’s

Does it hurt:-

The amount of pain will depend on the tattoo, the amount of treatment required and your own pain threshold, some describe the sensation as an elastic band flicked on the skin.  I can offer advice on pain relief which will be given following your treatment.
